HireVue Alternatives in India: 15 Options for Volume Hiring

HireVue alternatives for Indian hiring teams: what a HireVue licence costs per candidate at your volume, and 15 options compared on language, channel and price.

One $35,000 annual licence divided by 300, 2,000 and 20,000 candidates a year: $117, $17.50 and $1.75 per candidate

If you are searching for a HireVue alternative in India, most of what you will find was written for a US buyer: dollar prices, video-first tools, and not a word about whether the interview can be conducted in Hindi or Tamil. This is the India-side version. It starts with what HireVue is and who it was built for, does the rupee arithmetic on its licence model, then compares fifteen HireVue competitors an Indian hiring team would actually shortlist, grouped by what each one replaces. EasyInterview is one of the fifteen. It is ours, and it is labelled as ours throughout.

What HireVue is, and who it was built for

HireVue is the enterprise incumbent in video interviewing. Its own platform page describes game-based and coding assessments, a Virtual Job Tryout and language proficiency tests, with integrations into Workday, SAP, Oracle and SmartRecruiters; its video interviewing page adds on-demand and live video interviews and conversational AI over SMS and WhatsApp for candidate engagement. The homepage claims "40+ languages", and the logo wall is TJX, BP, General Mills and Delta. It is a mature, well-integrated platform for a large employer that runs a structured video assessment at scale and needs the workflow, compliance and reporting around it.

It does not publish prices. Its pricing page names an Essential and a Premium package and routes you to a demo. Third-party estimates fill the gap: Willo's August 2026 review of HireVue alternatives puts the packages at "$35,000 per year for the 'Essential' package, and $75,000 per year for the more comprehensive 'Premium' package"; Truffle, citing Vendr's tracked deals, reports contracts "that average close to $50,000 a year" and "can run past $145,000, plus implementation fees of $15,000 to $40,000". Treat all of these as estimates at the time of writing, not a quote.

None of that is a criticism. It is a description of the buyer: a company that hires in the thousands, budgets annually, mostly in English, whose candidates have a laptop or a good phone and somewhere quiet to record. The question for an Indian team is how many of those things describe your funnel.

Why HireVue fits Indian volume hiring badly

Four cards contrasting an enterprise video platform with Indian volume hiring on pricing unit, language, channel and setup, each ending in a question to ask any vendor
Four mismatches, and each one becomes a question for every alternative on the shortlist, ours included.

The pricing unit. An annual licence bills for capacity. Indian volume hiring arrives in bursts: festival season, a new BPO process going live, forty field territories opening at once. So you carry the licence through the slow quarters and pay overages in the busy ones. The alternative unit is per candidate or per connected minute, where the bill follows the screens you actually ran.

The language claim. "40+ languages" on an enterprise site almost always describes the candidate interface and support, which is what HireVue's own pages say. Whether the interview is asked, understood and scored in Marathi is a different claim. An applicant who will sell to a kirana owner in Marathi is being screened on a skill the job never uses if the interview runs in English. Ask every vendor, including us, to show one scored interview conducted in a specific Indian language, not a language count.

The channel. A recorded video needs a front camera, light, a quiet room, data for the upload, and a candidate comfortable performing to a screen. Bandwidth is less of an excuse than it was: the Nokia MBiT Index 2026, as reported by tele.net in March 2026, puts average monthly mobile data use in India above 31 GB per user and counts 892 million active 4G devices. The format problem is not the pipe. It is that a telecaller or field sales applicant works by voice, so a phone call is the work sample; a recorded video is a performance of something else, and it sorts people on their setup and their comfort on camera rather than on their ability to do the job.

The setup. Enterprise onboarding is measured in weeks, integrations and a procurement cycle. A live req is open now. For a volume team the useful evaluation is one job run alongside the current screen this month, with the two shortlists compared. Several of the vendors below can do that. HireVue's model is not built for it.

The rupee arithmetic on a HireVue licence

Publishing no price does not stop you doing the arithmetic. Take the $35,000 entry estimate above and divide by the candidates you will actually screen in a year. At roughly ₹95 to the dollar at the time of writing (per Wise's rate history):

Candidates screened a yearLicence cost per candidateIn rupees, approximately
300$117₹11,100
2,000$17.50₹1,660
20,000$1.75₹166

This is arithmetic on a third-party estimate. It ignores implementation fees, minimum applicant commitments and overages, all of which push the real number up, and it assumes you use the licence for the volume you bought.

At 20,000 screens a year, HireVue's economics are fine, which is exactly the buyer it was built for. At 2,000 a year, a common size for a mid-market Indian employer running a few volume roles, you are paying around ₹1,660 per candidate before implementation, and the number rises as your volume falls. The right comparison is never "HireVue versus something cheaper". It is your all-in cost per screened candidate at your real volume, vendor by vendor, which is what the cost-per-hire calculator exists to work out.

HireVue alternatives for India, by what they replace

Grouped by category. Every fact below comes from the vendor's own site unless a third party is named, checked in September 2026; prices are the vendor's published list prices, and several of these companies publish none.

Cheaper video-first tools

If your only objection to HireVue is the price, and recorded video suits your roles, these keep the format and drop the licence.

  • Spark Hire publishes a video-interview plan from $249 a month billed annually, with unlimited one-way and live video interviews and transcription in 50+ languages.
  • Hireflix is one-way video only: $75 or $150 a month billed yearly, with unlimited seats, positions and responses and a multi-language candidate experience.
  • Willo lists at $279 a month, or $209 billed yearly, for asynchronous audio and video interviews plus multiple-choice questions, aimed at high-volume screening.
  • Hirevire, built in Mumbai, is the one with a rupee checkout: $39 to $199 a month billed yearly, AI scorecards and transcripts in 90+ languages, one-way video, audio and screen recording.

What none of them changes: the candidate still records to a camera, and scoring is on what they said in a one-way take with no follow-up question.

India-built enterprise platforms

Closest in shape to HireVue, built by companies that started here.

  • Talview began at IIT Bombay as Interview Master in 2012 and became Talview Inc. in 2017, with its India office in Bengaluru. It sells an AI interview agent (Ivy), proctoring (Alvy) and live interview rooms, and quotes "20M+" candidates assessed across "120+" countries. Enterprise, demo-led, no published pricing. Strongest where proctored assessment and campus volume matter; TCS is on its logo wall.
  • iMocha, founded in Pune in 2015 as Interview Mocha, is a skills-assessment library first ("10,000+" assessments, "300+" enterprise customers, per its site), with automated video interviews and live coding attached. The right pick when the screen is a test rather than a conversation.
  • Zappyhire, headquartered in Ernakulam with a Mumbai office, bundles an ATS, resume parsing, AI video interviews, assessments and a chatbot, and lists high-volume, campus and blue- and grey-collar hiring as segments, with Federal Bank and Maruti Suzuki logoed. No published pricing.

None of the three publicly lists Indian regional languages for the interview itself on the pages we checked. That is the question to put to each.

Interview-as-a-service: humans on demand

A different answer to the same problem: outsource the interview to a trained person rather than to software.

  • InCruiter, Bengaluru, claims "4500+" expert interviewers for tech and non-tech roles, alongside AI products including IncScreen, a conversational AI phone screen. It publishes rupee pricing for its video-interview product; the expert-interview and AI lines are quoted.
  • BarRaiser, Bengaluru, founded in 2020, states "400,000+" interviews for "500+" customers with "4,000+" expert interviewers, plus an AI interview copilot. Tech-leaning, with sales and support mentioned.
  • Intervue is tech-only, "expert-led technical interviews on demand", and demo-priced.

A human-run interview is the highest-fidelity screen and the most expensive per candidate, which is why it is usually reserved for the technical round rather than the first cut of a thousand applicants; Karat alternatives covers that trade against an AI-run round.

Conversational AI recruiters, phone-first

The category that changes the format rather than the price: a live, two-way AI conversation, usually by phone, with follow-up questions, run in parallel across the whole applicant pile. Three fairly different products get sold under this heading, so if you shortlist from here, take the twelve questions in how to judge an automated phone screening vendor into the demo.

  • HeyMilo runs adaptive voice and video interviews at volume with native ATS write-back, strongest on staffing systems. Its site does not publish pricing, and third parties credit it with 20+ languages. Our head-to-head is at HeyMilo alternatives.
  • Alex, formerly Apriora, interviews over phone, video, SMS and WhatsApp, states "30 Languages supported", "1,000,000 Candidates interviewed" and "33 Officially supported ATS integrations", and does not publish pricing. US-built; see Apriora alternatives.
  • EasyInterview is ours, and the one on this list built India-first: live AI phone interviews in eleven languages, scheduled over WhatsApp, billed per connected minute from a prepaid wallet with no seats and no annual licence. The full description is in its own section below, where it belongs.

Regional-language specialists

  • Zeko AI positions itself for Indian enterprise and GCC hiring with multilingual AI interview agents; it does not publish pricing on the pages we checked.
  • Eklavvya, out of Maharashtra with university roots ("15K+" AI interviews at NMIMS, per its site), states English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil "and 30+ languages" for its assessment content. Campus- and exam-heavy; pricing on request.

The comparison table

The columns follow the first three questions in the figure; the fourth, the pilot, is yours to run. "n/s" means not stated on the pages we checked, which is itself useful: it is what you ask on the demo.

How the same funnel breaks at the screening step in the bulk hiring process, whichever vendor you pick.

Whichever profile fits, the failure to avoid is the same one described in the bulk hiring process in India: sourcing fills the top of the funnel easily, and the screening step is where the pipeline actually breaks. A vendor is only an alternative to HireVue if it fixes that step for your roles, in your languages, at your volume.

How EasyInterview fits

EasyInterview is the phone-first option on the list and it is ours, so read this section as the vendor's own description and test it with a pilot.

One branded apply link goes out to LinkedIn, Naukri, Indeed, apna, WhatsApp, foundit, Shine, a careers page or a QR poster, and a CSV import enters the same pipeline. You write the knockout rules, such as location, notice period, salary band and shift availability, and they are shown politely to the candidate at submit. Every decline is clicked by a human, every rule has an "include anyway" override, and every screened candidate gets an outcome message.

Everyone who clears the knockouts gets a live AI phone interview in their own language, across eleven: English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Odia. Candidates pick their own slot over WhatsApp with a one-tap reschedule, the AI is disclosed in every invite, and a person reads the transcript. Calls run in parallel, so throughput is set by applicant volume rather than recruiter headcount. That is also the direct answer to the licence question: the unit is a connected minute plus a small fee per scored report, drawn from a prepaid wallet the team shares, with no seats and no annual contract. Current rates are on the pricing page.

The interview cross-questions rather than reading a script: it probes vague answers with follow-ups and flags coached or scripted answers. What comes back is a ranked shortlist scored on seven dimensions, Communication, Role knowledge, Experience fit, Problem solving, Availability, Integrity and Language fluency, with every rating pinned to the moment in the call that earned it, plus the recording, the transcript and a percentile rank. For engineering roles there is a live coding and system-design round after the phone screen. Consent is collected at apply, and every message carries a STOP opt-out under TRAI rules.

The honest caveat: EasyInterview is a newer product with no public bulk-hiring case study yet, and it is not an assessment suite. There is no proctored test library or game-based assessment, and named ATS integrations are on the roadmap while the scorecard exports today. Evaluate it the way the fourth question in the figure says: a pilot on one live req, run alongside the existing screen, comparing the two shortlists. The sample report shows what one scored call looks like, and the comparison page puts it next to the other vendors side by side.

Frequently asked questions

How much does HireVue cost in India?

There is no India price list. HireVue sells an annual enterprise contract in dollars and does not publish figures; third-party reviews at the time of writing estimate the entry package at around $35,000 a year, with implementation fees on top. At roughly ₹95 to the dollar that is about ₹33 lakh a year before implementation: around ₹1,660 per candidate if you screen 2,000 people a year, ₹11,100 if you screen 300.

Does HireVue support Hindi or other Indian languages?

HireVue's site claims "40+ languages" without publishing the list on the pages we checked, and a language count usually describes the candidate interface rather than the interview. Ask for a scored demo interview in the specific language your applicants speak, and ask whether the scoring is done on the original-language answer or on a translation. Put the same question to every vendor on this page, including us.

Does HireVue score interviews with AI?

HireVue's platform page describes AI-driven skill validation with automated scoring alongside its assessments. How much of a given interview is machine-scored depends on the products you license, so ask for the scoring documentation and the evidence behind one score during the demo. That request is a fair test of any vendor here.

Which platform is best for online interviews in India?

It depends on what the screen actually is. A test: iMocha, Talview or Eklavvya. A human interview you want to outsource: BarRaiser, InCruiter or Intervue. A recorded video: Hirevire or Spark Hire. A live conversation in the candidate's language at volume: a phone-first conversational AI such as EasyInterview, HeyMilo or Alex. Deciding which of those four you need answers most of the question.

What features are must-haves versus gimmicks in a HireVue alternative?

Must-haves for Indian volume hiring: the interview asked and scored in the candidate's language, every score tied to a quoted moment in the transcript, a human on every decline, consent and an opt-out on every message, and a price per candidate you can compute. Gimmicks: a language count with no list, a logo wall, and any score derived from facial expressions or voice tone rather than the content of the answers.

Is EasyInterview a HireVue alternative?

For volume roles screened by phone in India, yes: it replaces the first-round screen with a live AI call in eleven languages, priced per connected minute. It is not a replacement for HireVue's proctored assessment suite or game-based tests, and it has no public case study yet, so treat it as a pilot candidate rather than a like-for-like swap.

Start with the denominator

The useful question is not "what is cheaper than HireVue". It is what one screened candidate costs at your real volume, whether the interview runs in the language the job is done in, whether it happens on a call or on a camera, and whether you can test it on one req this month. Put those four to every vendor on this page and the shortlist writes itself.

Book a demo to run one live req through EasyInterview alongside your current screen and compare the two shortlists.
